Blood Angels @ 750pts

I was scooping around Beasts of War, and saw a topic about a new player asking what he should go with @ 750pts. So, I went digging deep inside my head and made up some lists that I'd like to play with.

Remember, these were meant for someone who didn't want to go Mech and wanted to get back into the game (so descent balance,..).

With those things in mind, what can we do? Well, from my point of view, these are some of the best options:

Libby (Lance+Rage, Jpack) – 125
10 Assault Marines (JPacks, 2x Melta, PFist) – 235
10 Assault Marines (JPacks, 2x Melta, THammer) – 240
2x Attack Bikes with MMelta’s – 100
A nice list, has lots of options & a nice balance as well. You’re troops are tough enough to pack a punch and can give some hell as well. A minus is of course that you’ll have to rally on meltas & BL to take out enemy vehicles… A nice bonus to not having vehicles is probably that things like autocannon dreads are practically useless against you here.

Libby (Shield+Lance) – 125
Furioso Dreadnought (Blood Talons, not a Libby) – 125
   Drop Pod – 35
5 AMarines (JPack, Psword, Melta) – 125
5 AMarines (JPack, Psword, Melta) – 125
5 Scouts (Rifles, ML’s, Cloaks) – 100
Baal Predator / TL Las Predator / Dreadnought (Autocannon/MMelta) – 115
Looks a bit more like yours, also fun playing with. The last support option is yours to choose, whatever you like or think fits best with your playing style, keeping in mind that it’s really necessary to use one of those as anti-vehicle. Use a Baal Predator if you want to deal with infantry as well as armour.; and otherwise, I’d personally prefer the Dread abouve the Pred (hihi…), but some people seem to enjoy AV13. And yes, those are scouts, I like them, other people seem to avoid them, so I’ll include a list without them underneath. They are meant to hold one objective (2+ Cover save), so the rest of the army can focus on other stuff.

Libby (As Described)                                                                                      125
Furioso Dreadnought (Blood Talons, not a Libby)                                     125
  Drop Pod                                                                                                           35
7 AMarines (JPacks, PFist, Melta)                                                                161
7 AMarines (JPacks, PFist, Melta)                                                                161
(2 Land Speeders/ Baal Predator/ Riflemandread)                                    120
Now your assault squads are more useful thanks to the Powerfist and can take a bigger punch as well. The last big block of choices depends on how you want to beat your opponents’ vehicles (which you will face a lot at 750). If you want it to be more versatile and able to DS, go with speeders. If you want to have something that’s also great at killing infantry, go Baal Predator. And finally, although not as good as his good ShinyKnight friends, you can take another dread blast the feth out of your opponents’ transports: huzzah for the Riflemandread.

But, for all of you more advanced (and perhaps a bit more competitive) players out there, you can go nuts with vehicles as well.
The first one is what you could call… Well, a bit broken perhaps, it’s a bit exploiting the limit of things your opponent can bring, thanks to the point level.
Libby (Shield+Lance)                                                                                     100
5-Man Assault Marine Squad                                                                        100
  Land Raider (Multi-Melta)                                                                             225
5-Man Assault Marine Squad                                                                        100
  Land Raider (Multi-Melta)                                                                             225
You’ll never see me play this list though, but I just put it up because I know that’s what a lot of other people like to play at this level. Why don’t I?  Because, well, I don’t like Land Raiders (I’ll probably post soon why) and well, it’s not unbeatable, but… Well, you’re getting me.

And then there is… Spam! Razor-sharp Spam!
Libby (Shield+Lance)                                                                                    100
5-Man Assault Marine Squad (Plasmagun)                                               115
  Razorback (LasPlas)                                                                                     55
5-
Man Assault Marine Squad (Plasmagun)                                               115
  Razorback (LasPlas)                                                                                     55
5-Man Assault Marine Squad (PFist + Melta)                                            135
  Razorback (HBolter)                                                                                      20
5-Man Assault Marine Squad (PFist + Melta)                                            135
  Razorback (HBolter)                                                                                      20
This seems to be what BA are good at: razorbacks with Assault Marines in them. I gave the Bolterbacks a plasmagun, just in case their transport is destroyed, the other units were tooled out for well, you get it.
I also wouldn’t play this one just ‘cause it’s a Marine Parking Lot, this is, move vehicles forward, hope you survive and try to take objectives… It’s just… Boring.

Anyway, I hope you picked up some ideas and just enjoyed it all. Tell me what you think (= comments & criticism always welcome) or what you’d play at such a small 40k scale.
